Synopsis: Two white men, Byron ("Delay") de la Beckwith Jr., a lifetime member of the Mississippi Ku Klux Klan, and Canadian Paul Saltzman, a civil rights worker with SNCC, the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee, had a violent first encounter in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1965. Forty-three years later they meet on the steps of the Leflore County Courthouse, the site where Beckwith Jr. punched Saltzman in the head, to explore whether personal reconciliation is possible.
To accomplish this, Saltzman, an Emmy® Award-winning filmmaker, filmed with Beckwith Jr. over the past five years. Delay's father, Byron de la Beckwith, Sr., a high-ranking official of the KKK and a founder of the White Citizens Council, was convicted of the 1963 assassination of Medgar Evers, then head of the NAACP in Mississippi.
