Synopsis: Paul Krantz (Daniel Brühl, GOODBYE, LENIN!) and Guenther Scheller (August Diehl, THE NINTH DAY) are high school students who have just one thing in common: their desire to live life to its fullest potential, and die when it has reached its peak. The hunger for life is palpable in this moody period drama that runs the gamut of emotion, based on the events of 1927 that became known as the Steglitz Student Tragedy. Dreamy poet Paul comes from a working-class background, while the risk-taking Guenther is a wealthy playboy. The friends take a weekend trip to Guenter's family summerhouse, where his charmingly bohemian sister Hilde (Anna Maria Mühe, BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY), is staying. Paul is immediately captivated by her, and the two share an intimate weekend before Hilde returns to the city, surreptitiously meeting up with Hans, a former lover of her brother's with whom she is now involved. Meanwhile, the boys make a pact that, the moment they no longer feel any love, the will end their lives and take with them those who have stolen their love. This sets the stage for a debaucherous weekend of love and betrayal, as the Paul and Guenther throw a wild party during which true loyalties are revealed, and the friends must decide whether to take the ultimate step in life: death.     Source: RottenTomatoes.com
