Synopsis: A remarkable documentary about expectations, pressure, and changing goals in the face of terrible economic adversity, Through the Fire is the emotion-packed story of Coney Island boy and current Boston Celtics guard Sebastian Telfair. After his older brother Jamel Thomas failed to get picked during an NBA draft despite his superb reputation at Providence College, Telfair's family has to pick itself up off the ground and continue to survive in a violence-ridden housing project. Initially planning to skip college and go to the pros, Telfair announces a reversal of plans, then ends up re-considering everything as his family's situation goes from bad to worse. The film captures the drive of Telfair's contemporaries back at Coney Island, who dream of an upward mobility driven by hoops prowess, yet more often than not are shattered by brutal realities. Telfair's story is here in moving detail, leading up to almost unbearable suspense as his family await word about his chances in an NBA draft. A second disc in this set includes some truly fun stuff, including a roundtable discussion between significant individuals in Telfair's life as well as Through the Fire's director; archival material focusing on a couple of key high school games in Telfair's early development; and a video about Adidas shoes.     Source: Amazon.com
